Manager Trainee - Leadership Program Excellence Agreement
One of the main goals of an MT is to learn as much as possible about Amarr’s product lines, systems, processes, culture and customers. While most learning takes place “on the job” there is also a large portion of classroom type of education. “On the job” learning often requires heavy lifting (up to 75 lbs), loading and unloading material by hand and the frequent use of power tools and usually occurs in a non-climate controlled environment. This type of activity is also indicative of most field management positions. Feedback regarding the learning process or anything else is encouraged during the training program and afterward. All MT’s are required to complete a 24-week Program for Managerial Development (PMD).
If the initial 24-week PMD is followed as designed, the trainee completes two 1-week programs in Winston-Salem successfully, and if the trainee meets all other training requirements, then the typical MT is anticipated to complete their training program within 12 months of their hire date. Unless otherwise noted, all MT’s who complete the PMD will be offered a position that requires relocation. Relocation usually occurs 6 – 12 months past the MT’s hire date.
Metrics
MT’s are required to complete a minimum of 10 Developmental Assessments (DAP’s) during the 24 week PMD. MT’s are also expected to possess superior judgment, communication, organizational, information processing and technical skills. A 60-day regular status performance evaluation is required of all Amarr new hires.
Impact - Focuses one’s efforts on discovering and meeting dealers’ actual and underlying needs
Customer Service
Although the main focus of the position is to complete the requirements of the training program, you will be working hand in hand with other team members to meet the needs of our customers on a daily basis. As training progresses, MT’s will be expected to interact with customers on a more individual basis and impact our customer satisfaction goals. All MT’s are
encouraged to seek assistance when needed.
Improvement - Works toward, or surpasses, a standard of excellence. The standard may be one’s own past performance, an objective measure, outperforming others, or a unique accomplishment
PMD Training
MT’s will be required to successfully complete the 24 week PMD training program that consists of the following. There are 21 weekly predetermined modules that provide dedicated specific training. These weekly modules will be assigned to specific weeks and will be required to be completed and turned in by the Friday of the assigned week. MT’s will participate in 8 Interactive On-Line Live Webex Training Sessions and will be required to complete a DAP that touches on important items from both the PMD Module and Webex session. MT’s will be required to complete two books for outside reading assignments. They will travel to Winston-Salem to participate in two individual one week conferences (Office Management Conference and Leadership Conference). In conjunction with the 21 PMD weekly modules, MT’s will travel to at least one other door center to work and learn with their management and team members and then ride along with a District Service Manager as he travels on a DC Visit.
Involvement - Works cooperatively with others as part of a team, and works together, as opposed to working separately or competitively
Communication
All MT’s report directly to the General Manager (GM) of the local DC. Because the DSM is also directly responsible for the MT’s success, there is a strong line of accountability between the MT and DSM. Weekly assignments are submitted to the Director of Career Development (DCD) and the National Training Manager (NTM). The NTM and DCD conduct much of the training and assume a support role for the MT.
Initiative- Fosters long-term learning or development of oneself or of others
Personal Development
Upon successful completion of the PMD training program, MT’s will be required to continue to develop their abilities on an individual basis. All Amarr managers and team members are expected to meet and exceed required training hours for the current year. An Individual Development Program will be developed for you to help meet this expectation.
Integrity- Acts in a way consistent with Amarr’s values and makes sure others are doing the same
Ethics
Embody the spirit of Amarr’s Ethics Policies and uphold all of The Company’s departmental procedures. Foster a fair and trusting environment for our Team Members and customers. Do what you say you will do when you say it will be done.
Commitment
Throughout the 24 week program, all MT’s are required to spend an average of 15 hours per week completing classroom-style assignments. Classroom assignments include, but are not limited to completing all of the requirements of the PMD training. Due to the fast pace of our Door Centers (DC’s) it is not always possible to complete all of the required
classroom material during normal business hours. Accountability for material completion lies with the MT and the MT is accountable for reporting the completion of each training module at the end of the week. Therefore, personal hours during the evenings and weekends may be required to complete the training material. This is not an all-inclusive list of job requirements or expectations. We expect that this will serve as a baseline or minimum level of expectation. Your actions
should be aligned with these expectations and it will be your supervisors’ responsibility to make sure they are clearly understood.
